Facebook and Social Media Fears come to life

I am a huge advocate for changes to social platforms, especially when they make using them easier and mroe engaging.

However, with the new changes to facebook, different apps you use have more freedom to publish more information. This in and of itself doesnt bother me. However, one of my all time biggest fears have been re-surfaced. What if someone sees something you don’t want them too! What if you do something that would embarrass you if people saw? (And no, I am not talking about porn).

Facebook what you are listening to

Joshua Winkler has been caught listening to Bruno Mars. Huge props to my friend Scott for doing this. This is the equivelant of  getting caught doing something gross on Chatroulette, or clicking that link on Facebook which says, “her father walked in on her, click here to see what happened” and then its posted to your wall. Yes, we all know what you wanted to see!

But I suppose this is a little scary if people see me listening “accidentally” to Justin Bieber, which would humiliate me for life!

    Good Point.
    When I signed up for G+, it automatically imported all of my picassa albums…. all of them, and made every picture public. I had to go through each album and picture to mark what I wanted public or not- but I only noticed this a week after I signed up. I have no clue how many people saw pictures of me post-giving birth (not a pretty sight!)
    But like every other change, people will adjust to the new Facebook. We will all learn how to switch our settings so what we want shown will be shown. If you don’t want people to know what you are listening to- don’t link your Spotify account to your facebook.
    Also, I sort think anyone who clicks on that “father walked in on her link” deserves the embarrassment. I look forward to seeing which Teacher I once had, Co-Worker or friend’s husband clicks on it :). What’s the point of social networks without the social faux pas?
