I noticed on my facebook wall a bunch of images popping up. It was as my friend Bubba said:
@aaronfriedman it’s like national geographic for social media. “Here we have a meme growing in its natural habitat… watch how it hatches”

The only problem is, they are all fake. I feel like my experience of the hurricane has been a total lie!
By the way, these are the images I am talking about:
Chances are you have seen them, and maybe you even shared them.
Beautiful, Terrifying, Awe Inspiring. Some of the contributing factors to creating a viral image.
And of course the question many of us are pondering:
The best part was it was almost all at once everyone realized they weren’t real (See: buzzfeed).
My absolute favorite is the Old Guard who posted on twitter “Thanks for posting the pic about @the_old_guard, but that is not from today. This one is goo.gl/OC5lz” which then sends you to a much calmer photo.
I guess, in some regards, the internet is kind of like a hurricane, (cue the corny metaphor).
Anyway, I don’t have any life changing message to share right now. I might add more to this later, if I have time. For now, just stay safe y’all.
