Collaboration has always been an important thing. In any industry, people will often collaborate with other’s in the same line of work to gain new perspective, and bring out new insights in what they are working on. Anyone will tell you that marrying up your skills with others can give you some of the best results, results that you may not have gotten before.
I have now seen one of, by far, the coolest and most inspiring pieces of music that has ever been collaborated on.
Eric Whitacre a famous Choral Conductor, enlisted the internet to sing along to his sheet music, and then join the virtual choir. After they submitted their singing, all the videos were chopped together to make this rendition of “Lux Aurumque” :

A truly amazing piece of work and Eric Whitacre has plans of future online collaboration’s with many more young talents across the internet. He hasnt met any of these young stars. This whole thing was done through the internet performances and some fancy back end work cutting the clips.
Which brings me to my point. Imagine the type of things we can accomplish. Assume we spend our whole lives trying to find that perfect match in that small radius where we live and are never able to find it because we are limited. With modern technology making incredible advances, talking to someone via webcam, or other means, may be just as good, if not even better than talking with them in person. And the best part, you are connecting with that other person that helps bring out unknown talents from within you.
Other cool collaborations are from:
Erin featuring The Beatbox Hitman Two (who collaborates with others pretty regularly) doing their rendition of Lady Gaga’s Telephone

And from Global Seisun and 3rdDerivative who host open collaborations for Irish Traditional musicians from around the world.

What other things besides music can we collaborate on from virtual locations using the internet?
